The Protectli MDG230 is a 5G modem that can be added to the Vault to enable 5G data as a primary internet connection or for backup, as long as a compatible SIM card is utilized. The MDG230 consists of a main board, a carrier board, and the actual modem. The modem must be connected to these boards to work properly. The carrier board for the MDG230-M2 version is compatible with the M.2 3052 form factor. The MDG230 is multi carrier capable – it works on ATT, T-Mobile, or Verizon (US only) and will associate with a network based on the SIM card that is inserted. It has 4G fallback in scenarios where a 5G connection cannot be established. Please note: The modem works in North America only, and this version of the MDG230 (M.2) is only compatible with the Protectli V1000 Series, VP2420, VP2430 , VP4600 Series, and VP6600 series.
Zero Configuration
The MDG230 has Carrier Auto Detection and Auto APN which means there typically are very little if any settings to be modified to get connected. Further, The MDG230 works without drivers on most operating systems, appearing as a network interface (tested with Linux, HardenedBSD, FreeBSD, and Windows). Contact us for detailed connectivity information about specific operating system distributions.
Flexible Connectivity
The MDG230 allows you to choose between NAT Mode or Modem Mode for connectivity, either helping to protect devices behind the modem (NAT mode) or transparently provide cellular connectivity (Modem mode).
Package Contents: modem card, M.2 carrier card, M.2 main card, four 6″ antenna cables with SMA Female connectors (for mounting to chassis), four 5G antennas
