Statement: FCC Covered List update to ban foreign routers

On March 23, 2026, the FCC updated its Covered List to include foreign-made consumer-grade routers, prohibiting new device models in this category from receiving FCC equipment authorization.

All current Protectli Vault models have been granted FCC authorization as listed on the product datasheet. The ruling applies only to new FCC authorization requests from the date of the statement (March 23, 2026). Previously authorized products can continue to be imported, sold, and used without restriction.

Protectli Vaults are not consumer routers. Protectli products ship as computer systems that can be used for a variety of purposes including workstations, hypervisors, access points, and more. Customers choose and install their own firmware, components, and operating system. As such, Protectli devices are a fundamentally different product category from the off-the-shelf consumer routers this ruling targets.

Even so, we are reviewing the full Commission Order and evaluating the conditional approval process to ensure continued compliance as our product line evolves. As more details emerge, we will share updates openly and promptly.
